Manufactured for the Brazilian government, it bears the Brazilian government seal on the chamber and the "circle B" Brazilian acceptance stamp. The serial number (3468kk) suggests that the rifle was produced in 1913.

The gun is stamped DEUTSCHE WAFFEN - UND MUNITIONSFABRIKEN. BERLIN. and REPUBLICA MEXICANA 1897. Serial Numbers on the bore and bolt do not match. I was told once that non-matching serial numbers occurred when a soldier pulled a rifle from one pile and a bolt from another pile that surrendering troops created, which sounds plausible to me.
